Mountain Division , Kabul Afghanistan
The Spartans are renowned to this
day for their expert fighting skills
and warrior prowess. Only the strong
survived in the disciplined Spartan
armies. Trained only for battle, a
young soldier knew but one home --
his barracks, one family -- his unit.
Physical training was the chief occupation,
and each man's day was spent in exercise
or on the drill-ground.

The
3rd Brigade Combat team deployed
to Afghanistan in February 2006
and completed a one year rotation
with an additional 4 month extension.
The Brigade Combat Team deployed
again for Afghanistan in January
2009 and is currently serving
in the region in various capacities.
The 10th Mountain Division
(Light Infantry) is a light
infantry division of the United
States Army currently serving
under the XVIII Airborne Corps.
The unit's specialty involves
fighting effectively in harsh
conditions. Like the rest of
the corps, it is designed for
rapid deployment anywhere in
the world. The division is currently
based at Fort Drum, New York.
